An advocate said that, with a few differences, it's still possible for there to be a repeat of Kalief Browder's tragic three years in jail on false charges.

Thanks to pressure from conservatives, 16- and 17-year-olds accused of felonies would still end up in criminal court.

"We know that because of racial stereotypes, the police assume people of color are more violent than their white counterparts, and will be charged differently."
