Toby's Public House, a popular sports bar and pizza spot in South Slope, has expanded its footprint into the Columbia Street Waterfront District, opening up a second location in May for serving its wood-fired pies.

Toby's opened its first location during the Brooklyn pizza boom of 2008, joining luminaries like Roberta's in defining a new genre of pizza. While Roberta's has gone on to be something of a phenom, places like Toby's cater to neighborhood regulars and pizza-philes who travel to sample their famed Bufalina pizza and others with unique toppings.

The Bufalina ($16) made it to the waterfront, of course, its thin crust topped with buffalo mozzarella DOP, basil, and a final douse of olive oil post-oven. Other inventive pies coming out of the dual, wood burning ovens include a Grilled Eggplant ($17) with smoked mozz, beef steak tomato, basil and olive oil, and the intriguing Grilled Peaches ($17) with honey ricotta, mozz, prosciutto di parma and arugula.

Pastas, salads and small plates like meatballs and mussels round out the menu. The bar offers a solid menu of craft (and formerly craft) beers including Blue Point, Coney Island, and Dog Fish Head, plus the cheekily-named "Toby's Cheap," a $4 pint of "American Lager."
