Three for You
1. In Act 1 of your professional life you were an award-winning playwright and journalist. Then you had a fairy tale career in publishing from London's Tatler, Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, to Talk magazine. Now you host a talk show on CNBC called "Topic A with Tina Brown." My question to you: Why television, why now?
There is no magazine I want to edit now. TV is new and scary enough to fascinate me until I really feel I'm good enough.

2. Although born, raised, and educated in England, you've been a New Yorker for the last twenty years and vow never to leave. You reflected on the English in a Mediabistro interview with Jesse Oxfeld where you lamented about the "rain in their voices." Outer-borough accents aside, what do you think New Yorkers have in their voices?
Money, Gusto, Competition.

3. Your CNBC show has been dutifully and painstakingly recapped every week by Gawker.com's "Henry the Intern." While some question his mythic or comic book origins, I can assure you he is very real. At some point you will be faced with a choice trickier than the Prisoner's Dilemma. As I see it: you can slay the boy-dragon, have him as a guest on the show, or hire him. What's the water cooler talk on Henry around the Topic A set?
We love Henry. His dutiful stenography touches our hearts. How else would we remember what we said?

Just how much do you really love New York?
Enough to compare everywhere else to it when I am away.

What happened the last time you went to L.A.?
I sat next to an actor who told me he didn't know anything about John Kerry except he had been a doctor. I realized it truly is another planet.

Of all the movies made about (or highly associated with) New York, what role would you have liked to be cast in?
Lily Bart in "The House Of Mirth."

If you could change one thing about New York, what would it be?
Cell phone abusers on the Hampton Jitney.
