When Anthony Scaramucci became White House communications director last week, he used a press briefing to introduce himself to the world as a Harvard Law-educated, former Goldman Sachs, deeply loyal-to-President Trump kind of guy. This week, he used a phone call to a reporter for The New Yorker to show another side of the Mooch: foul-mouthed Long Islander and front-stabbing armchair psychologist.

Demanding the reporter, Ryan Lizza, tell him who leaked details of an intimate White House dinner attended by Trump, the First Lady, Fox News's Sean Hannity, former Fox News head Bill Shine, and himself, Scaramucci said, "I fired one guy the other day. I have three to four people I’ll fire tomorrow. I’ll get to the person who leaked that to you. Reince Priebus—if you want to leak something—he’ll be asked to resign very shortly."

He also said of Priebus, the White House chief of staff: "Reince is a fucking paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac," and of chief strategist Stephen Bannon, "I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own cock. I’m not trying to build my own brand off the fucking strength of the President. I’m here to serve the country."

The vulgar remarks became immediate fodder for late night television. Mario Cantone, who said he'd be happy to play Scaramucci for Saturday Night Live after fans noticed the resemblance, appeared as the Long Island native on The President Show. As Scaramucci, he railed, "I’m going to fire so many people. I don’t know who it’s going to be, Reince, but I’m going to get to the bottom of the leaks in the White House. Do you hear me, Reince?"

It's unclear if Cantone would actually play Scaramucci on SNL; the Chicago Tribune's Nina Metz points out, "I suspect there is some resistance to a viewer-led casting idea. 'SNL' likes to make its own decisions."

Stephen Colbert also considered Scaramucci's New Yorker interview on The Late Show, "If Bannon could do that, he'd never leave the White House. Though I gotta say, we never see him anymore."

Today, Scaramucci was trying to put it all behind him, and appears to be blaming Lizza for reporting what he said:
