For more than eight decades, the Frick’s music room has been a venue for classical music concerts.

A spokeswoman said that the expansion will enhance critical functions, including conservation, education programs and basic visitor services, which are currently squeezed into spaces that were never designed to house a museum.

The Frick is hosting a Summer Nights event tonight, which sounds pretty COOL.

The mansion-turned-museum opened 78 years ago this week.
