President Obama said, "I urge Democrats and Republicans in the Senate to find common ground on a plan" to raise the debt ceiling and prevent default.

The president is scheduled to make his case tonight, without Boehner's support, for the larger deal to House leaders, cutting $4 trillion of the deficit by cutting entitlements and raising taxes. It's likely to fail.
