The city has beefed up the number of school nurses through outside contracting companies.
There has been a nursing shortage in public schools nationally for years, including in New York City.
As COVID-19 continues to rapidly spread throughout New York, the city is scrambling to enlist 85 new school nurses to address a longstanding shortage.
