Former NYPD officer Franklin Mata was sentenced today to 60 days in jail and three years probation for official misconduct stemming from rape charges that he and his former partner were acquitted of in May.

As the woman who accused him of rape sat in the courtroom, ex-cop Kenneth Moreno was upbraided by Justice Gregory Carro, who said that when police officers commit crimes, "It endangers the fabric of society."
