Mayors office of special enforcement

New York City's Office of Special Enforcement is suing a Manhattan real estate brokerage firm for $21 million.

In his lawsuit, Stanley Karol claims he is disabled, and uses Airbnb to rent out the two-family home in Sunset Park in order to pay the mortgage, taxes, and utility bills for the home.

Mayor's Office investigators will go after those who rent out whole apartments for less than a month.

According to a spokesperson for the Mayor's Office, OSE has seen a near 50% increase in illegal hotel complaints since October of last year.
