For the better part of the last 17 years, Yo La Tengo have been hosting NYC/NJ's most essential Hanukkah celebration.

Yo La Tengo announced earlier this week that they'll be bringing back their beloved Hanukkah shows for the first time in five years.

It will still be called Maxwell's, however.

Surprise! Maxwell's is open again... but only as a restaurant, and not FOREVER.

Did he change the musical history of the venue by being the last musician to play there?

Maxwell's will host a big block party in Hoboken at the end of July before they shutter their doors. But the co-owner may open a new venue in Jersey City.
