Hundreds of people came to Pier 5 on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon.

Though the wind was not as strong as a kite festival would wish for, many participants showed off their techniques as best they could.

As always, the kids seemed happy just running up and down the sloping lawns of Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 1.

Even the most elaborate and expensive kites were out-soared by an amazing homemade rig of cardboard and garbage bags.
