Joe Biden is facing questions about whether he violated a No Fossil Fuel Money pledge, after attending an Upper West Side fundraiser organized by the founder of a natural gas company.
The rally was ostensibly to put the city's landlords—including the Trump organization—on notice that failure to comply with city legislation requiring buildings to drastically slash their carbon emissions could result in heavy fines.
'I don't remember the specifics,' de Blasio told reporters at an unrelated press conference today. 'I remember a very minor incident.'
'We don't think we're being unreasonable.'
The overarching goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, by sourcing '100 percent clean electricity.'
'This should not be a partisan issue, this is about our constituents and all of our lives,' Representative Ocasio-Cortez said.
"As a person who actually worked for tips & hourly wages... instead of having to learn about it 2nd-hand, I can tell you that most people want to be paid enough to live."
While the Green New Deal won't become binding law, it could serve as a litmus test for Democratic support in 2020.
