Giglio lift

The Giglio Feast runs through July 18th, and there are two more lifts still to come.
The event has played out in front of Our Lady of Mount Carmel every summer for 117 years.
The annual Giglio lift, an Italian-American tradition since 1903, is desperate for volunteers.
The four ton, five story Giglio was exuberantly lifted by a team of brawny guys in Williamsburg once again this weekend, as part of the annual Italian-American festival outside Our Lady of Mount Carmel church on Havemeyer Street.

Every year the Giglio is hoisted up by hundreds of brawny guys and paraded around Havemeyer Street outside the church.
