An expansion of the federal safety net is all that has prevented “developing-world levels of famine,” one expert said.

Now in its fifth week, the longest government shutdown in history may soon have a significant impact on how food banks, as well as the charities and food pantries they distribute to, can get food to families in need.
In the coming weeks Canada geese will be rounded up and killed, again... but this time, they could be landing on someone's dinner plate.
