A small cascade of water sloshed from the ceiling of my A train car this morning, managing to land precisely on me and me alone. I immediately jumped up and stood for the rest of the ride, but it seems like the water gods aren't done with me, or any of us, quite yet this Friday.

Grab your umbrellas (or just don't bother leaving the house at all) because the National Weather Service says there's a flash flood warning in effect until 10:30 a.m. for Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan. Specific flood-prone areas include:

Jamaica, Flatbush, Flushing, Mott Haven, Crown Heights, the RFK Bridge, the Throgs Neck Bridge, Laguardia Airport, the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, Jackson Heights, Forest Hills, Canarsie, Bay Ridge, Astoria and the Lower East Side.

"Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams," the Weather Service warns. Plus "urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots."
