For all the musical theater nerds out there, it was like Festivus: On Tuesday, FX announced that it green-lit a limited series from Lin-Manuel Miranda about two Broadway legends—Choreographer Bob Fosse and dancer Gwen Verdon—and that it would star Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams.

The series will feature eight episodes and is based on Sam Wasson's biography of Fosse. According to Deadline, the untitled production will focus on the "story of the singular romantic and creative partnership between Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon. He was a visionary filmmaker and one of theater’s most influential choreographers and directors, she was the greatest Broadway dancer of all time... Together they changed the face of American entertainment - at a perilous cost. Featuring Fosse’s choreography, the series explores the hidden corners of show business, the price of pursuing greatness, and the suffering inflicted in the name of art."

Just as good: Rockwell and Williams will receive equal pay.

"My mother and father have one of the greatest love stories ever known," Nicole Fosse said in a statement. "They were extremely complex people with an indestructible bond, loyalty and trust that endured both fantasy and reality. Finally, we have a creative team with the talent and wisdom to tell the story."

A NY Times review of the biography noted, "Domestic bliss was lost on Fosse, as anyone who knows his work can clearly see. Mr. Wasson, with a graceful turn of phrase, calls the screen version of 'Cabaret' 'a film about the bejeweling of horror,' one that is 'coruscated with Fosse’s private sequins, the flash he feared made him Fosse.' This book sees him as determinedly unhappy, obsessed with death and doing his utmost to bring it on. 'I drink too much, I smoke too much, I take pills too much, I work too much, I girl around too much, I everything too much,' he once told a friend, winking."

Hamilton and In The Heights director Thomas Kail is directing while Dear Evan Hansen playwright Steven Levenson will be the showrunner (Levenson also wrote the pilot). The trio said in a statement, "Bob Fosse ignited a revolution in American dance, theater, and film. But, in contrast to the well-worn myth of the visionary artist working in solitude, Fosse’s work would not have been possible without Gwen Verdon, the woman who helped to mold his style - and make him a star. We are honored to work with the incredible team at FX and Fox 21, and these two extraordinary actors, to tell the story of this remarkable couple, and the complicated, fascinating relationship between them."

Miranda also Tweeted a gif of Fosse and Verdon dancing in Damn Yankees—and later acknowledged he's working on a lot:
