Construction crews were working on dismantling part of the gyro tower yesterday afternoon, after officials became concerned that the tower was swaying excessively.

Video of the Astrotower swaying dangerously in the wind, and photos of it being dismantled soon after.

Demolition work starting in the early morning (around 2 a.m.).

The top portion of the AstroTower in Coney Island will be removed, and until it is, nearby attractions will remain closed.

The FDNY said no injuries resulted from the mystery swaying, but that the Department of Buildings is en route to check it out, just in case.
