To be clear, no one was so foolish as to think that yesterday's exemplary Cops Parked In The Bike Lane moment was in any way exceptional. Sure, the paint gave the whole thing an extra soupçon of poetic revanchism, but really, the act of parking-slash-throwing shit in the bike lane is more or less business as usual for the city's Finest. The current Google street view outside Harlem's 28th Precinct depicts a fun grab-bag of bike lane obstructions, but the prize surely must go to the heap of garbage dumped right there in the middle of it. The message couldn't be more clear if they'd sculpted it into the shape of a middle finger.
