A construction worker died today after an industrial-sized air-conditioning unit fell from a crane at Bronx-Lebanon Medical Center. According to the NYPD, the unit "was attached to a chain of a crane that broke off" just before 11 a.m. at the hospital, located at 1650 Grand Concourse.
The unit, described as "container-sized," was actually being removed from the hospital when it fell and hit the 35-year-old worker. A witness told the Post that it “just fell straight down on him. He was just flat beneath it. You couldn’t see him at all.”
The worker, described by police as a 35-year-old Asian man, was pronounced DOA at Bronx-Lebanon Medical Center.
