A construction worker was killed in the Bronx this morning when a 3,000 pound crate landed on him as he was unloading it from a truck.

The 62-year-old victim was apparently unloading the cargo from a box truck on the Throgs Neck Expressway service road just after 8 a.m. when it tumbled from the vehicle and crashed down on his head, WABC reports.

The man, who was a private contractor working at the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority facility, was pronounced dead at the scene.
