A young woman's leg was severed by a passing train while she was walking on the tracks in Brooklyn yesterday. According to cops, the unidentified 29-year-old woman was walking along the roadbed of the elevated J/Z tracks at the Gates Avenue station in Bedford-Stuyvesant just before 3 p.m. Saturday when a passing train hit her.
She was taken to Brookdale Hospital; her left leg was amputated below the knee and she had a right ankle fracture, but she is in stable condition. Police could not provide any other information about the incident.
This isn't the first time someone has had their leg severed by a train this year: it happened at the 65th Street E/M/R Station in Queens in January, at the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium stop in the Bronx in February, at the 145th Street Station in Harlem in March, and at the Seventh Avenue Station at 53rd Street also in March.
