The NYPD is searching for a man they say attempted to rape a woman in her East Harlem apartment earlier this month.

According to police, the unidentified 59-year-old woman was asleep in her apartment on East 106th Street on September 1st. At around 12:30 a.m., cops say the woman woke up to find a man in her bedroom.

He allegedly pulled her ankle and tried to pull down her pajama pants. Police say the woman then screamed, prompting the suspect to flee out an open window in her living room.

The suspect is believed to be about 25 years old. Cops say he has short black hair, is about 5'6" and weighs about 220 pounds.

At the time of the attempted rape, he was wearing khaki pants and a similar colored t-shirt.
