A Long Island woman stopped by an officer for running a stop sign turned the afternoon into a movie-worthy car chase by leading officers down Route 231, getting cornered in a parking lot, and then using her car as a battering ram to smash through four patrol cars blocking her path. In the 11-minute pursuit Mary Quinn, 47, struck four cars and attempted to run over several police officers before being arrested.
Quinn was charged with three counts of third-degree criminal mischief, two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, second-degree assault, and unlawful fleeing of a police officer and was issued 18 traffic citations after the chase. (It was also discovered she had an active parole warrant for her arrest—she has a lengthy arrest record.) The assault charge was given after she injured a cop inside a patrol car; he was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center to be treated for a back injury. But it sounds like a helluva chase. If only we had video and the "Benny Hill" theme...
