A woman was violently attacked during a cellphone snatching on Monday.

According to the police, at around 9:30 a.m., a 25-year-old woman was on a southbound 6 train that stopped at St. Lawrence Avenue in the Bronx. When the train doors open, the NYPD says that "an unknown male snatched the victim's cellphone (white iPhone 5) from her hand as she exited the train."

The victim struggled with the thief, and she was ultimately "thrown down the stairs leading to the street causing bruising and lacerations to her right hand," according to police. The suspect fled and the victim was treated by EMS at the scene. Police released video of the suspect, who is described as being about 5' and weighing 140 pounds:
