A 60-year-old woman was stabbed to death only a block and a half from her home in Jamaica last night, according to police.

Police found Nazma Khanam, 60, outside 160-12 Normal Road, near her home at 161st Street, around 9:15 p.m. last night with a stab wound in her torso. She was transported to Jamaica Hospital and pronounced dead.

DNAinfo reports the stabbing may have been a botched robbery. Khanam had been walking home with her husband from the souvenir shop they ran nearby.

NBC reports that Khanam's nephew is an NYPD transit officer and a member of the NYPD Muslim Officers Society.

The NYPD says no arrests have been made, and they are investigating Khanam's stabbing. Khanam's body will be sent back to her native Bangladesh, where she was once a teacher.
