A 49-year-old woman was killed while standing outside her disabled car on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in Greenpoint this morning. And the driver who struck her is now in custody.

The crash occurred around 2:50 a.m., near Meeker and Morgan Avenues. The woman's car had stalled in the left westbound lane, and a passing car struck her.

She was thrown from the BQE onto the street below, according to WABC 7.

Police say the woman was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The 43-year-old male driver of the passing vehicle was taken to Woodhull Hospital in stable condition.

He is in custody, with charges pending (possibly DWI related).
