A woman was fatally struck by a taxi on a sidewalk on the East Side early Sunday morning. The incident happened around 1:50 a.m. at the corner of Third Avenue and East 27th Street in Manhattan. According to cops, the cab, a 2011 Ford Escape, was traveling northbound on Third Avenue when it was struck in the rear by a 2010 Honda sedan that was emerging from a parking space. The taxi spun out of control and then hit the woman, pinning her against a pole.

The woman, whose identity hasn't been revealed, suffered severe leg trauma and massive bleeding; she was pronounced DOA at Bellevue Hospital. The driver of the taxi stayed at the scene; cops add that no criminality is suspected and the investigation is ongoing.

On Saturday morning, a man was fatally struck as he walked in the center lane of the FDR Drive near East 63rd Street. Jason Morales, 23, was hit by a 1993 Honda sedan around 1:10 a.m. yesterday; he was pronounced dead at Metropolitan Hospital. Police add that the driver stayed at the scene and no criminality is suspected.
