A 22-year-old woman died after falling down the stairs inside a Midtown Manhattan subway station on Monday night, according to the NYPD. The woman was reportedly carrying her baby daughter in a stroller when she fell. The child was found conscious and treated at the scene.

The NYPD says that just before 8 p.m. officers responded to a 911 call about an unconscious woman at the 7th Avenue B/D/E station at West 53rd Street, where they found the woman and a one-year-old girl on the southbound platform.

EMS took the woman, identified as Stamford, Connecticut resident Malaysia Goodson, to Mt. Sinai West hospital, where she was pronounced dead. A source told the Daily News that commuters informed a station agent that the woman had fallen, and the MTA employee alerted police.

The medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death.
