A 24-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly trying to light a Molotov cocktail in Times Square last night.
Ludivine Baugier de Chevestre was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon, and placing a false bomb/hazmat call Friday night around 10 p.m. after passersby saw her attempting to light what looked like a Molotov cocktail near Broadway and 46th Street.
An NYPD spokesperson told Gothamist that Baugier de Chevestre was arrested after witnesses called 911—the spokesperson said Baugier de Chevestre was also charged with making a false call because people called the police about a person with a possible bomb.
Police moved Baugier de Chevestre to Roosevelt Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation before charging her. The chemical substance she allegedly used is being investigated by the NYPD's Arson and Explosion Squad.
