A Staten Island woman allegedly bit a police officer's face during a routine traffic stop. The Staten Island Advance reports that 27-year-old Amanda Diaz was pulled over around 5 p.m. yesterday at the intersection of Clove Road and Mosel Avenue for swerving into opposing traffic. After finding that Diaz's license had been revoked for failing to appear for past summonses, officers moved to arrest Diaz but she allegedly resisted.

Police say that after getting her into the back of a patrol car, Diaz attempted to kick open a window, and a female officer attempted to subdue her. According to court papers, Diaz proceeded to bite the officer's face, "causing the skin to rip off, bleeding, substantial pain, annoyance and alarm."

Diaz was charged with second-degree assault, second degree aggravated unlicensed operation, resisting arrest and reckless driving.
