The NYPD is on the hunt for two men suspected of robbing the Bowery Whole Foods to the tune of $60,000. According to investigators, the robbery happened when a trio of employees were pushing a shopping cart full of cash from the registers up to the second floor office at approximately 10 p.m. on Sunday night. When the elevator doors opened onto the second floor, the two suspects were waiting, and one was armed with a gun.

The perps tied up one manager with zip ties and then bolted with the cash. A tipster tells us one employee believes it was an inside job, because the thieves ran out to the loading dock through the back of the store, which is "like a maze, so people think it's probably someone who's worked at our store or a friend of someone who has worked there."

The Post reports that the thieves got away with $26,000, but the official statement from the NYPD puts the number at $60K. The NYPD is asking anyone with information about the robbery to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or online.
