Fire officials are still trying to figure out who has been setting fires in Staten Island over the past week. There have been 3-4 suspicious fires in five days (NY1 says four), with fire fighters from all over the city responding, and yesterday fire caused homes to be evacuated. The Staten Island Advance said that the FDNY will continue door-to-door canvassing for information (so far, people have just noted that they've seen teenagers around), plus noted the tip that cigarette butts, as well as sparks from mopeds or all-terrain vehicles "can easily ignite the 'very dry' phragmites reeds" in the marsh. So far, the fires have damaged 80 acres.
