The Bronx man who baked his Maltese dog to death after leaving him in his 140-degree van earlier this week (he now faces a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge) had been cooling off at the Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park pool for more than an hour when his dog was spotted by a passerby. According to the Daily News, he told police, "there should have been a public service announcement, someone should have warned us." Okay everyone, consider this your warning: leaving dogs (and babies!) in cars with the windows rolled up during a heatwave will most likely lead to death.
