Our favorite Kansans are coming back to Brooklyn this Monday! No, not Kerry Livgren and Steve Walsh, whose indelible prog rock riffs carried "Carry On My Wayward Son" and "Dust In The Wind" to the uppermost reaches of the charts—The Westboro Baptist Church, who are making their annual Jew-hating sojourn as part of their "Godsmack Tour." The only question: will Limp Bizkit be opening for them, or will they be opening for Limp Bizkit?
The hate-mongering hate-freaks will stop by Midwood on Monday, to protest Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Berlin on Coney Island Avenue, as well as Chabad of Kensington and Yeshiva Torah Teminah, both on Ocean Parkway. Last time they were in town, there were an equal amount of counter-protests, including a flashmob Hora!
In case you are unfamiliar with the Westboro Baptist Churches beliefs, here's what Shirley Phelps-Roper, a spokeswoman and attorney for the church, told the Post: “[The Jews’] time is about gone and they have to be held accountable for spilling the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ...We want [the Jews] to understand that we will be the fateful witnesses in the spirit of grace and supplication and that we will mourn for them when their time comes.” No word yet on whether the group will make a headlining appearance at Ozzfest this year. Middle fingers crossed!
