September ended on a cool note this weekend. The average temperature last month was a beastly 66.6 degrees, a degree and a half below normal. The last time a month was more than a degree below normal was May 2005. Rainfall was slightly below normal, the first month since March with below normal precipitation. Temperature and precipitation remain well above normal for the year as a whole, however.
The rain cooperated over the weekend, falling early Sunday morning, leaving us with a beautiful early-fall afternoon yesterday. The weather will continue to cooperate today and tomorrow. Today: Sunny with a high in the lower-70s. Tomorrow: Partly cloudy, highs approaching 80. Wednesday: Again a high near 80, but with a chance of showers in the afternoon.
Wondering where else the weather cooperated over the weekend Gothamist plugged that phrase into Google news and found a couple of locations. In Escanaba, Michigan the weather cooperated in a high school cross country meet. And upstate the weather cooperated at the annual Central New York Great Pumpkin Fest. The one time we went to this festival the weather definitely did not cooperate. It was a rainy/windy/snowy mess. Eric Gerry had the largest pumpkin, a 912..5 pound "big beauty". That's a lot of pies.
