Yet another warm day today. The mercury will make a valiant attempt to make this the 17th 90 degree day of July. If so it will most likely be the last such day of the month. The Bermuda High will give way to a cold front tomorrow and cooler Canadian air on Friday.
Before the cool air gets here Thursday should still be plenty warm and humid. Lots of clouds and a good chance of rain during the day will hold the high to the upper 80s. The cold front will drag itself across the region tomorrow evening. The air mass behind the front is cool and dry. Friday and Saturday are expected to be mostly sunny and cooler with highs in the lower 80s.
Sadly, the cooler weather means this won't be a record warm July. The temperature forecasts of the Weather Service and the Weather Channel both say the monthly average will be 81.3 degrees. That's a mere tenth of a degree behind July 1999. Still, there are consolation prizes! This is fifth straight top ten warm month and quite a turnaround from last year, which at 72.7 degrees was the seventh coolest July ever recorded in Central Park.
