A water main break along the 6 line has caused major subway service disruptions between the Bronx and 125th Street. You're probably reading this long after your hellishly crowded shuttle bus ordeal, but if we can save just one reader from heading to the uptown 6 train this morning it'll be worth it. The 6 train is completely suspended in both directions between Hunt Point Avenue and 125th Street. Please be patient.

The MTA says the water main break is in the vicinity of 140 St & Bruckner Blvd. As crews work to repair the damage, shuttle buses are running between the impacted stations. But the MTA is urging customers "to use alternate means of travel to and from the Bronx using the 2, 3 & 5 lines. Customers can also use the the Bx33 and BxM6 routes in the area as alternates."

According to the MTA, "some" 4 and 5 trains are currently running local between the Brooklyn Bridge and 125th Street. Translation: might as well just forget about the east side until further notice. Citi Bike sure would come in handy in a situation like this; too bad there are no bike stations north of 60th Street.
