A rather chubby harbor seal was seen frolicking in the East River off the coast of Williamsburg this morning, a not uncommon but still welcome sight on a rainy Thursday. Raeshaun Brown, a Sotheby's realtor in the area, sent us this video of the little frankly, sort of heavyset guy loping around the rocks near the East River State Park:

Kim Durham, the rescue program director for the Riverhead Foundation, said the seal appears to be in good condition, and there is no indication that he's injured or distressed. His only worry now is that some greedy landlord will find a way of pricing him out of the area—as far as we know, the East River is not rent-controlled.
