It was a violent day for the city yesterday, with five separate shootings in Brooklyn and the Bronx leaving five wounded and two dead.

Two of the shootings occurred in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn; officials say the first, on Nostrand Avenue at about 2:30 p.m., left one man shot in the stomach and a woman shot in the leg. Cops believe both victims are in their 20s. "I walked across the street to the guy and started asking him questions, like does he live around here, what's his name," a witness told NY1. "He wouldn't talk. He was applying pressure to his wound. We just told him, 'Hold on, we'll get the ambulance.'" The second Bed-Stuy shooting happened later on Friday, at 9:50 p.m. on Jefferson Avenue. The victim, a 29-year-old male, was shot three times and taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced DOA.

In addition to the Brooklyn shootings yesterday, three people were shot in the Bronx, with one succumbing to his injuries. The first shooting occurred at around 6;30 p.m. on Fox Street, with two men injured; they are both being treated at an area hospital. At around 11 p.m., cops say 33-year-old Jamal Davis was fatally shot in the chest on Tinton Avenue. And also around 11 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the hand on East 198th Street and Bainbridge Avenue in the Bronx; he was treated at St. Barnabas Hospital.
