Jon Stewart and the Daily Show have long documented how the turd containment crews at Fox News have been able to spin every Mitt Romney setback over this election into some sort of indictment of Obama and the left. But something changed Tuesday night: Obama was seemingly given fresh batteries, Florida's "clusterfuckery" was irrelevant, and, oh yeah, Karl Rove blew a fuse on live TV. Watch below.
Fox News, and "traditional America," was hit with a bucket of cold water Tuesday night, causing "an avalanche on Bullshit Mountain." In an election between scientific gobbildigook (aka, arithmetic) and belief, the gobbildigook won. It caused Rove to deny reality in the face of Fox News' own stats, and it caused Sarah Palin and Bill O'Reilly to bemoan the state of the white establishment: "What an incredibly story to tell yourselves: we would have won if it weren't for the moral failings of the non-real America. It's white people judo...Fox lost because last night, minorities who feel entitled to things came and took the country away from the self-sufficient white medicare retirees and upper class tax avoidance experts—or as they're also known, your audience."
And then the blame game began, with Fox blaming the election loss on the national mainstream media, Hurricane Sandy, the new demographics of America, and the "ruthless Obama smear machine." Of course, that ruthless smear campaign originated from the Republican primaries, and people such as Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry: "This election wasn't murder—it was auto-unerotic asphyxiation!"
To top everything off, Stewart had Mr. Arithmetic himself, Nate Silver, as his guest last night.
