With Staten Island in shambles after Hurricane Sandy, we heard a lot yesterday about the NYPD's aerial rescues on the island. Now we have a bird's eye view of the missions as they unfolded.

Taking a PR move from the MTA (which has released videos of Sandy-struck subway stations and tunnels) the NYPD this morning released four videos of police Helicopter 23 ("named after the 23 New York City Police Officers killed on 9/11") performing some pretty daring rooftop rescues yesterday. According to the NYPD, "members of Aviation and Scuba rescued five adults and one child who were trapped in their houses due to rising waters."
