An NYPD cruiser and an unmarked sedan collided yesterday afternoon in their haste to respond to a robbery in East New York. Six officers sustained minor injuries, and we imagine there was a lot of hot coffee spilled all over the interior of both cars. NBC New York obtained excellent surveillance video of the crash, which they have lovingly edited into several sequences, so you can watch the cops collide repeatedly! The accident occurred around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Milford Street and Belmont Avenue. The unmarked car crashed into a laundromat, and the Post reports that two people inside were uninjured, although the front of the laundromat was "destroyed." Oddly, neither the Post nor NBC New York has any information about the nature of the robbery they were responding to—and our call to the NYPD press office was, as ever, a total waste of 51 seconds. But, obviously, it's safe to assume there's a Dunkin Donuts in East New York that had a very bad day yesterday.
