The NYPD is looking for two men they say assaulted a bodega worker with avocados and bananas in the Bronx, leaving him with a broken jaw.
Police say the incident took place at 4:44 a.m. on May 29th inside the Stadium Gourmet Deli near Yankee Stadium. The two men, whose identities are unknown, got into an argument with the 21-year-old worker over their food order, according to the NYPD; it was then that they began throwing fruit at him. The victim sustained lacerations to his face and suffered a broken jaw, according to police. He was transported to Lincoln Hospital in serious but stable condition.
The alleged assaulters, meanwhile, fled the scene in a dark sedan. Cops describe the first suspect as male, 25 to 30 years old, 5'7" to 5'10", 170 to 190lbs; last seen wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans and multi-colored sneakers. The second is also male, 25 to 30 years old, 5'7" to 5'10", 170 to 190lbs; last seen wearing a white t-shirt, a blue vest, blue jeans and blue and white sneakers.
Hani Jirgis, the store's owner, told ABC 7 his employee was very seriously hurt. "Somebody try to give you service, how you throw him with avocado? This is no good," he said. "The guy, he needed surgery on his eyes."
