In what is sadly not a viral marketing campaign for Lars Von Trier's newest film, a car full of people numb to the metallic whir of life's mortal coil laugh at a man who appears to be attempting suicide off a bridge. "This guy is trying to kill himself. Ahaha!" one woman says.
The driver says, "You wanna die, go die." The first woman replies, "I love that." Deep.
Or, you know, these people are just kinda mean.
It is always worth noting: If someone you know exhibits warning signs of suicide: do not leave the person alone, remove any firearms, alcohol, drugs or sharp objects that could be used in a suicide attempt, and call the U.S. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) or take the person to an emergency room or seek help from a medical or mental health professional.
[UPDATE] An FDNY press spokesman says his office is "very busy with the storm" and couldn't immediately confirm that the jumper is a man who lept off the Queensboro Bridge yesterday at approximately 1:50 p.m., but adds, "We did have a DOA at that area yesterday."
