Shopping for shoes is supposed to be a liberating experience, a chance to relieve stress and anxiety with a perfect pair of Jason Wu Peggy patent-leather pumps (be sure to enter code JohnDelSignoreSentMe so I get my commission!). But one unfortunate woman in Rego Park, Queens recently had her retail therapy rudely defiled when a thief brazenly reached into her pocketbook while she tried on boots. In an attempt to catch the fast-fingered crook, the NYPD has released this silent surveillance that shows the crime in progress:

The video shows the suspect trying several times to reach behind the victim's back to get inside her purse, and then finally succeeding in lifting the wallet, which contained an unknown sum. Investigators say the grand larceny happened on Sunday, January 20th at 11:30 a.m. inside the Century 21 at Rego Center. The suspect is described as a white female, between the ages of 40-50, approx. 5'4", heavy build, with long black hair wearing a black coat and black pants.
