The police are hoping the public can help them identify a man caught on video punching another person in Hell's Kitchen yesterday.
According to the NYPD, the assault occurred at 6:30 p.m. last night, at the corner of West 55th Street and 9th Avenue. Police say, "The suspect punched the victim in the face with a closed fist causing the victim to fall to the ground. The victim struck his head on the pavement and sustained a serious head injury."
The victim is in critical condition at a hospital, while the suspect fled. Here's video footage—it appears the attacker and victim exchanged words before the assault:
According to the Post, the fight started over the puncher's interaction with the victim's dog: "The victim was out with a friend who was walking the little pooch when the suspect stepped over the dog in order to pass the duo on the sidewalk, police said. The irate dog owner got into it with the suspect, asking him why he stepped over the dog, according to police."
Police describe the suspect as being in his 30s, approximately 5'10" tall, weighing 170 lbs., with curly blonde hair. He last seen wearing gray sneakers a turquoise t-shirt and blue shorts. Anyone with information in regards to this assault is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
