Last night the New England Patriots handily defeated the New York Jets, but the action that has the NFL upset happened after the final play. While walking off the field Jets coach Rex Ryan was caught on video telling a fan to "shut the fuck up" when they called out, "Hey Rex, Belichick is better than you." And now the NFL is "looking into it." Ruh roh!

Ryan today apologized for the slip, telling reporters "It was emotional, an emotional time. I obviously made a mistake. I was full of emotion and just popped off. Obviously I know I represent the NFL, I know I represent the Jets, and I know it was a mistake. I apologize. ... I’m about as big a competitor there is. At that time, I was in no mood to hear anything, but I also understand I have to handle that better."

Not that Ryan was the only cursing coach last night. The Post says it overheard Bill Belichick saying after the game, "Thirty-seven points on the best defense in the league, suck my dick." But since it was just an overheard private conversation the NFL won't be investigating.

This isn't the first time Ryan has gotten in trouble for his behavior. Last year he was fined $50,000 for flipping the bird at someone at a mixed martial arts event. No fine has been levied against Ryan, yet.

Meanwhile, in other Jets news? Apparently Spike Lee really is jonesing for some sports while he awaits the return of his beloved basketball (good luck with that). After making an appearance at a Rangers game last month the director was spotted at the Meadowlands last night (again), sitting next to no less that Shaq. And you know what? If the Jets had to lose in order for us to get this amazing photo of Lee with Dustin Pedroia and Shaq, well, so be it. Damn that man is tall!
