An arsonist who was allegedly kicked out of an East Harlem deli for attempting to steal beer early Monday morning subsequently returned to the establishment and tried to set it on fire through the service window. The NYPD has released security camera footage showing the suspect pouring a flammable liquid inside the window and then igniting it.
Police say employees at Saied Deli, located at 108 East 125th Street, were able to extinguish the blaze, and no injuries were reported. The suspect fled eastbound on East 125th Street toward Lexington Avenue. Police described him as a 23-35 year old black male, 6'2", with slim build and last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, tan pants, black sneakers and black and white Brooklyn Nets knit hat.
