The NYPD has had no luck finding a man who shot an apartment door in Bed-Stuy last month, so they've released dramatic video of the crime in hopes the public can help track down the perpetrator. According to investigators, the suspect entered an apartment on Reid Avenue around 6:30 p.m. on November 17th, charged up to the second floor, and opened fire. To the videotape:
The suspect, who appears to be astonished by the door's invincibility, then fled the scene. It's still unclear why the apartment was targeted, or what the door may have done to provoke this, but as you can see from the video, that badass door stands strong despite multiple shots fired from point-blank range. "What else you got?" the door seems to be asking, in that creaky taunting door voice we're all familiar with.
No other injuries were reported, aside from those sustained by the Rasputin of doors. But whoever did this is going to be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life, wondering when that door's going to finally become unhinged and go looking for payback. (A big screen adaptation of this video, called Door Number Gun, is already rumored to be in development, starring Nic Cage in the title role.)
Police described the suspect as 5'10", 170lbs. Anyone with information in regards to this shooting is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
