In 2005, the year after New York City's current lead poisoning prevention laws went into effect, Suso Pinzolo's son was just one of over 37,000 children under the age of 6 in the city found to have elevated lead levels in their blood. Today, that number has dropped by roughly 90 percent, but that still leaves thousands of kids each year who are exposed to lead's potentially damaging effects.
